What is the Loop Recording feature in the ROVE R2-4K dashboard camera?
THE ROVE R2-4K dashboard camera offers a beneficial loop recording feature, which falls under the video settings, where you can switch it ON or OFF according to your needs.
This Loop recording feature in a dashcam is generally a mode of recording -- that lets the camera record videos loop-by-loop to replace the old video files with new ones whenever the memory card runs out of storage. The best part is that you don't have to replace them manually; everything goes automatically. The feature can be essential in dashboard cameras – as dashcams record videos without stopping for safety motives.
ROVE R2-4K dash cams allow setting up a loop recording time of 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes. You are entitled to choose the one that best fits your requirements. — Loop recording time of 3 minutes sets up as default when the feature you turn it ON.
Oppositely, if you turn the feature OFF. The camera starts recording each file 4GB in size until the memory card fills up, and then it delivers you a “Card Full” message. The camera does not capture any other videos until you erase files or format the memory card to clear storage.
The Loop Recording feature does not damage any critical files, like footage of an accident if it occurred – you can collect them safely.

What is Loop recording in my camera, and what's its purpose?
In digital videography, the word 'Loop Recording' represents storing files in the camera memory by replacing old recorded clips with fresh clips whenever the camera memory goes out of space.
When you set the camera in a loop recording mode, it captures the footage and divides it into many small video clips of appropriate length based on your selection. – such as ( 1, 3, 5, or 10 minutes).
Whenever the camera memory storage is detected as insufficient, the camera instantly wipes out the earlier recorded clips and creates space for fresh content employing this feature.
For example, set up the camera to a 5-minute loop recording mode. The camera will cut up the entire captured video recording into a series of short video clips. The duration of each pin will be 5 minutes.
After splitting, the camera will store these short videos in memory space. And will list as something like xx0001, xx0002, and so on, respectively.
Suppose the installed memory card in the camera runs out of storage after capturing the clip xx0030. It will automatically delete the oldest clip – the clip xx0001 and replace it with the freshest xx0031.
Naturally, new files will fill up the camera memory space again, and the same cycle will repeat until you end the video recording. The oldest clip, xxx0002, will be destroyed to create space for the xxx00032 clip.
In short, the Loop recording mode feature is a solution to the limited memory room. That allows you to have the newest recordings of the last several hours without bothering about storage capacity.
How does Loop Recording help me?
There are primarily two benefits of having loop recording as an in-built feature.
First of all, the Loop recording mode splits an hour-long video file into several smaller portions, which are well-organized, manageable, and more straightforward to transfer.
Typically, a large-size video file requires a long time to load, move, or edit. It also proves difficult to navigate to the part you want. At the same time, things get much more manageable when such a large video file gets divided into short clips.
Secondly, you do not need to worry about your insufficient camera storage capacity. The loop recording feature ensures that your limited memory space gets reused by replacing the old files with new ones.
